Flower Power: Rose Tea and Rosehip Tea Benefits

Roses have been used in herbal medicine for centuries and are full of healthful properties. Different teas may use different parts of the rose plant as ingredients in their blends: rose petals are often added to light, mellow teas to add a floral note, while rosehips are often added to fruit-forward blends to add sweetness and tartness. While rose petals and rosehips differ in taste and in the particular benefits they confer, they’re both healthy, tasty additions to herbal and caffeinated blends.

Brewing rose tea

How you brew rose tea will depend largely on what other ingredients are present in the tea blend. For black teas flavored with rose petals, we recommend heating water to a roiling boil and steeping for three to five minutes. For herbal teas, the water should also be boiling, but these teas may benefit from a longer steep time of five to six minutes. Other types of tea, like green tea, white tea, and oolong tea, should usually be steeped using cooler water for a shorter period of time.
